Trump intends to temporarily suspend immigration to the United States

Washington: US President Donald Trump announced Monday evening that he will sign an executive order to "temporarily suspend immigration" to the United States with the intention of "protecting jobs" for American citizens in light of the economic repercussions of the Covid-19 epidemic.

"In light of the enemy's hidden attack, and in light of the need to protect the jobs of our great American citizens, I will sign an executive order to temporarily suspend immigration to the United States!" Trump said in a tweet on Twitter.

Trump plans to take this step, despite the fact that the repercussions of the newly created Corona virus have left 22 million unemployed to date in the United States.

The US President described the new corona virus as a "hidden enemy", after the epidemic claimed the lives of more than 42,000 people in the United States out of more than 766,000 infected. Trump's statement did not provide further details on what would result from this procedure, nor when, how or what would be implemented.

In January, Trump imposed a travel ban from China to the United States to stem the spread of the epidemic in his country, in a step he has been unsuccessful since he praises. Later, in mid-March, the US President imposed very restrictions on travel from most European countries to the United States.
