The United States exceeded 400,000 cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday, according to a tally published by the Johns Hopkins University that was constantly updated.

The epidemic has caused at least 12,912 deaths in the country that has turned into the main focus of the emerging coronavirus with 401,166 infections. It crossed the threshold of 300,000 casualties officially recorded on Saturday.

Since the middle of last week, more than 1,000 new deaths have been recorded each day in the United States, despite the containment measures that have gradually been implemented, State by State.

The state of New York is the main epicenter of the epidemic, especially in New York City, the country's economic capital, where life has almost stopped.

"America continues to carry out more tests than any other country in the world, and I believe this is the reason for the record of more infections," President Donald Trump said Tuesday, noting that 1.8 million tests have been conducted to detect the epidemic to date.

The authorities have warned that between 100,000 and 240,000 people may die as a result of a pandemic in the United States, depending on computer models, if they adhere to the guidelines for social separation.
